Service Ministries

MINISTRY OF HOPE

At St. John Berchmans, HOPE stands for “Helping Other People Enthusiastically”. This Ministry aims toward helping people around our community in a lot of different ways. Ministers will help provide meals for the sick, homebound, and families going through hard times. Ministers also offer to help those in need to run errands or to help in tasks around the house.

Contact:  Head of School, Peggy Roketenetz, [email protected]

Training Needed: None

Time Commitment: As available/needed

Duration of Commitment: No specific commitment required

MINISTRY OF CARE

Ministers of Care visit the sick and homebound of our parish bringing Holy Communion and praying with those in need. It is important to us that those who are sick and in need know that they are not forgotten.

Contact:  Director of Faith Formation & Education, Shelagh Donoghue, [email protected]

Training Needed: An 8-session training session is required

Time Commitment: As available/needed

Duration of Commitment: No specific commitment required

FINANCE COUNCIL SUB-COMMITTEES

Our finance committee has recently gone through some changes and we are in need of people to serve on our newly formed sub-committees. The sub-committees include: budgeting, facilities/maintenance and long-term financial planning. These meetings are conducted in English.

Contact:  Director of Operations, Joseph P. D’Arco, [email protected]

Training Needed: none

Time Commitment: The sub-committees meet bi-monthly

Duration of Commitment: One year

OFFERTORY COUNTERS

As the name suggests, these volunteers count the weekend offertory. The teams meet following the 9:45 am Mass to count and categorize the offertory. This team-based system helps us meet the Archdiocesan best practices for money handling.

Contact:  Director of Operations, Joseph P. D’Arco, [email protected]

Training Needed: Provided on the job

Time Commitment: 2 to 2-1/2 hours every four or five weeks (depending on the number of 4-member teams available)

Duration of Commitment: One year
