Fr. Tomasz Wojciechowski, C.R., Pastor
Fr. Tom was born in Drawsko Pomorskie Poland, in a small town in northwestern Poland not too far from the Baltic Sea. After finishing high school, he entered the Congregation of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, (The Resurrectionist’s) novitiate in Radziwiłow Poland. Professed my first vows on September 15, 2002.
After novitiate Fr. Tom began seminary studies at the CR seminary in Krakow Poland. In the summer of 2003, he was sent to their international seminary in Rome, Italy. There he studied at the Gregorian University.
In 2007. Fr. Tom was ordained a deacon, and was sent to the Resurrectionist seminary in Poland where he served as vice rector. During this time, he also completed diaconate training serving at Resurrection Parish in Poznan.
Fr. Tom was ordained to the priesthood on April 26, 2008 in Krakow Poland. In July of 2008, he arrived in the USA, and was stationed at St. Joseph the Worker House (Gordon) where he spent the next four and half months studying English. In January of 2009, he was sent to McHenry County, where he began sacramental ministry to the people of Resurrection Church in Woodstock and St. John the Baptist parish in Johnsburg IL.
In June of 2009, Fr. Tom was transferred to St. Hedwig Parish in Chicago where he served as the parochial vicar until June 30 of 2013. On July 1 of 2013, he became the pastor of St. Hedwig parish. And in 2021, he became the Pastor of the combined Saints Hedwig and John Berchmans Parish.
He loves music, art, and also has a dog and his name is Nemo.
Fr. Patrick Marshall, Associate Pastor and Chaplain to St. John Berchmans School
Father Patrick M. Marshall has been a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago since 1979. He hails from St. Monica Parish on the far northwest side of Chicago. He is the second of four children of Elmer and Harriet Marshall. Both of his parents are deceased. Father Marshall’s three siblings live in the Chicago area with their spouses. His seven nieces and nephews also live in the Chicago area. He has three great nephews and a niece.
A ‘lifer’ in the Chicago seminary system, Father Marshall first attended Quigley Seminary North. He then went to Niles College of Loyola University and later St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein. He took a year off from studies after college to work with Catholic Charities in the resettlement of the Vietnamese refugees.
Father Marshall’s academic resume includes a BS in Psychology from Loyola University, a Master of Divinity from Mundelein and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Pastor Marshall is also a certified addiction counselor.
The priestly assignments of our Pastor include Associate Pastor at St. Christopher Church in Midlothian. As well as Associate Pastor at Queen of Martyrs in Evergreen Park. For five years after that he was the Archdiocesan Spiritual advisor to the St. Vincent de Paul society. Later, he spent a year in a program for Church leaders at the University of Notre Dame.
Upon returning to Chicago, Father Marshall was assigned to be the Director/Chaplain of the St. John Paul Newman Center at UIC, a position that he held for 27 years. During twelve of those years he was one of six priests who served as Master of Ceremonies to Joseph Cardinal Bernardin.
After his years at UIC he was granted permission to take a six-month sabbatical at the North American College at the Vatican.
In 2019 Cardinal Cupich appointed Father Marshall as the Pastor of St. John Berchmans Church. And as part of the “Renew My Church” process, Father Marshall’s role changed to Senior Associate Pastor and Chaplain to St. John Berchmans School for the combined Parish of Saints Hedwig and John Berchmans.
Father Marshall is excited to be a part of this vibrant community and we are very excited to have him.
