Sts. Hedwig & John Berchmans RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) welcomes all who desire to know more about the Catholic Church and what it teaches.
Becoming a Catholic/ RCIA: Your Journey of Faith
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process through which adults consider if the Catholic tradition of the Christian life is suitable for them. The RCIA gatherings include discussion, prayer, reflection and information about elements about the Catholic faith.
Throughout this journey of discernment about the Catholic faith the person is accompanied by a group of people who support them and journey with them.
RCIA is a process, not a program, therefore it is not based on a school calendar. A person who is inquiring is able to begin their discernment at any time throughout the entire year. This point of view allows each person, along with the team to determine the person’s readiness to take the next step. God’s relationship with each person is unique and the team’s objective is to accompany each individual on their journey.
This process is offered to all of the following persons to assist in their growth in faith:
- Those adults never baptized, who seek to become Catholic
- Those adults baptized in another Christian church, who seeks to become Catholic
- Those adults already baptized as Catholic who have not celebrated the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist
- Those who are baptized Catholics who wish to strengthen their faith through a refresher course.
Those who attend these gatherings are under no obligation to commit to becoming Catholic.
