Becoming a sacristan requires the most time commitment, but, without a sacristan the liturgy simply would not happen! The sacristan prepares all of the items for liturgy, from cups and bowls to vestments and lights. Sacristans assist in countless ways at our liturgies.
Age requirement: Confirmed Catholic, high school and older; teacher recommendation required for teens. This ministry requires a high level of responsibility. Parents may serve as sacristans with their older children as assistants.
Commitment: one or two Training Sessions plus shadowing of an experienced sacristan for two or three masses. Sacristans serve, on average, one or two Sundays per month at a specific liturgy.
